This project explores new materials and working principles for high-performance micromechanical actuators in view of applications in the growing field of micro and nanorobotics. We are particularly focused on VO2, an oxide compound with extraordinary electrical, optical and mechanical properties. Its change of lattice parameters across its metal-insulator transition at 68 °C makes this material particularly appealing for actuation at micro and nanoscale.

" Planar Nanoactuators Based on VO2 Phase Transition" published on Nano Letters !!!

"Anisotropic Temperature-Driven Strain Dynamics in VO2 Solid-State Microactuators" published on ACS Applied Electronic Materials !!!
